But, this is monumental, because in that instant I had a major breakthrough.
You see, my shower curtain has been there for many years, but I never noticed the fine detail and stitching on it. There was an amazing texture of threads making beautiful arrays of flowers - intricate needlework.
And then I thought.....This is sometimes how it is with business.Often I make the mistake of thinking I know what my prospects and customers are going to say and how best to serve them and bring them to the next level in their business. But, am I really listening?
Am I really hearing what they have to say?
This can be profound.
What if we look beyond the words and hear the feelings, the unspoken communications from our prospects and business associates?
What if we meet them where they are at, instead of where we think they should be?
What if we help them get where they want to go, instead of where we think they should go?
This is not to say that you don't present your business.
We have often heard that we should qualify our prospects.
That phrase has bothered me - like people are objects.
We try to fit them into what we want.
The truth of the matter is this, we want the people that are looking for what we offer. It is a matter of asking simple, geniune questions to find out if we have a fit.
For example:
What is happening right now that is making you look for an additional income stream?
What are you dissatisfied with in your life and would you like to change it?
I have found that the times I have asked these questions, are the times that I have enrolled more effectively.
Why?
Think about it.
Once they reveal what they are looking for, and I have a real solution, we have a fit.
